Today we launch the first global survey for our research project. It is the short form of the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, a well known and respected tool to measure happiness.

Please read the introduction to the questionnaire carefully because some statements are phrased positively and others negatively.

If you would like to take part in the longer version of this questionnaire, please leave your email address as your answer to the last question.

Why this method?
Of course there are more ways to measure happiness. For example the Chinese Happiness Inventory (Lu & Shih, 1997), The Depression–Happiness Scale (McGreal & Joseph, 1993) and The Subjective Happiness Scale (Lyubomirsky & Lepper, 1999).

The Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, however, has the strongest construct validity demonstrated by correlation with a measure of self-esteem, the life regard index, and the Depression–Happiness scale (.81, .77, and .90, respectively). In addition, it is a more comprehensive instrument and is less susceptible to respondent bias than other scales (Hills & Argyle, 2002).
