What is happiness?

Many people have tried to come up with a definition for “happiness”.
Amongst others:

Dr. Benjamin Spock:
Happiness is mostly a by-product of doing what makes us feel fulfilled.

David Lee Roth:
Happiness is … a bathing suit.

Brigitte Bardot:
There is a French proverb: To live happy, live hidden. Where can Brigitte Bardot hide?
